Work with Julia
Founder and Director of Evolved Pilates, Julia Frankish is a Principal Trainer with the Pilates Association Australia and brings over 20 years of teaching experience.
Julia’s programs support teachers to move beyond exercises and develop a deeper understanding of how people move. Her approach is grounded in observation, curiosity and research-informed practice.
Julia works with both individual teachers and studio teams, offering mentoring that builds clarity, confidence and practical skill in a real-world setting.
Mentoring & Professional Development
Whether you’re an individual teacher looking to refine your craft, or a studio owner wanting to support your team’s development, mentoring is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
Together, we focus on how you teach — not just what you teach.
This work will support you to:
- Build confidence working with complex clients
- Refine your cueing and programming skills
- Strengthen your movement analysis and clinical reasoning
- Develop clarity in your teaching identity and decision-making
- Translate knowledge into practical, effective teaching
For Individual Teachers
For teachers at any stage of their career who want to deepen their understanding and feel more confident in their teaching.
Mentoring offers a supportive and structured space to:
- Ask questions and explore ideas in depth
- Refine your observation skills and critical thinking
- Develop greater clarity and consistency in your sessions
- Feel more confident working beyond set repertoire
For Studio Owners & Teams
For studio owners who value ongoing education and want to elevate the quality and consistency of their team.
Mentoring can be delivered for individuals or small groups and may include:
- Team workshops or in-studio training
- Observation and feedback sessions
- Support with programming and class structure
- Developing a shared teaching language and approach
This is a practical, collaborative way to support your team to grow — while strengthening your studio’s identity and standards.
For Studio Owners & Teams
Mentoring is tailored depending on your needs, with options for:
- Individual mentoring (1:1)
- Small group or team mentoring
- Short-term intensives or ongoing support
A typical immersive program may include:
- Weekly sessions (movement, discussion and reflection)
- Observation and assistant teaching opportunities

Meet Julia Frankish
Julia Frankish is the founder and director of Evolved Pilates, a welcoming studio she opened in 2014 after more than a decade of teaching across Melbourne. Her early career was shaped by close collaborations with physiotherapists and health practitioners, fueling her passion for movement education that supports whole-body wellbeing.
Originally drawn to Pilates through her dance training, Julia quickly discovered its power to build strength, support recovery, and create meaningful connection between body and mind. She completed her Pilates certification in 2005 and now holds the title of Principal Trainer with the Pilates Association Australia (PAA).
Julia is deeply committed to education — both for clients and fellow teachers. She delivers professional development workshops across Australia and has presented on topics such as Dynamic Hip Stability, Tendinopathy Management, Springboard Repertoire, and Postural Alignment for Dance. Her sessions are known for being thoughtful, engaging, and grounded in both science and experience.
Her teaching philosophy is simple: Pilates is for everybody. Julia welcomes clients of all backgrounds, abilities, and ages. Whether recovering from injury, managing chronic pain, or building strength, her approach is always personalised, practical, and empowering. She is especially passionate about hip and pelvis mechanics, low back pain, and conditioning for dancers.
Outside the studio, Julia enjoys life with her partner Louis and their two children, Camille and Emmanuel. You’ll often find them riding along Merri Creek or sharing in her other passion — baking beautiful cakes and desserts.
