The ‘Springys’ apparatus is an evolution of the Pilates spring wall, containing 5 different length springs that attach to a wall or door mounted frame. It provides increased resistance and unparalleled capabilities to expand the scope of your exercise prescription.
Springys differs from a traditional spring wall in size, spring lengths, capacity for extensive movement, and added hand bar (which can double as a Barre). Our system provides spring resistance to the arms and legs to challenge the core, tone muscles, and improve mind-body coordination all of which can help prepare you for all kinds of functional movement in the outside world.
The Springys apparatus has wide-ranging benefits for all age groups and specific health needs. Read more about the Springy’s course work here
Julia Frankish - Owner/Director
Julia Frankish is the owner and Director of Evolved Pilates. She opened the studio in 2014 after having taught for a decade in other studios around Melbourne and working closely with physiotherapists and other health practitioners to achieve the health and wellbeing goals of her clients.
Through her experiences with dance training, Julia was introduced to Pilates as a way to strengthen her body, and help hold it together. This ignited a lifelong love of the method and its intelligent movement principles. She attained her Pilates certification in 2005 and now holds a Level 4 Professional Practitioner qualification with the Australian Pilates Method Association (APMA) and also runs the APMA Teacher Training Course.
Julia particularly enjoys educating people that are looking to become Pilates teachers, and providing further education for existing teachers. Examples of recent lectures she has presented include Tendinopathy Management within a Pilates Studio and Dynamic Hip Stability for the APMA and National Pilates Training, Spring Board repertoire for the APMA and Posture Alignment and Safe Stretching for Dance for Southern Federation of Dance.
Julia enjoys working with a diverse range of clients. Her philosophy is that Pilates is for everybody – for all ages and body types, and an excellent tool in both acute injury repair and for increasing strength and injury prevention. She is particularly interested in hip and pelvis mechanics, low back pain and dance conditioning. Her approach is personable and educational and her sessions are designed to rid you of aches and pains, improve your strength and give you an opportunity to better understand your movement habits and mechanics. Pilates teaches the integration of body and mind, and this, combined with precision and control are consistent themes throughout her classes.
When she is not at the studio either teaching classes or running the business, Julia loves to spend time with her partner Louis and their two children Camille and Emmanuel riding bikes and exploring the Merri Creek. She is also a keen baker and loves cooking and decorating cakes and deserts.
Martine Dennis - Director - Unified Fitness
I am a thought leader in proactive health philosophy, tools, and techniques. I am committed to building, improving and enhancing the health and wellness pathways for individuals wanting to improve their health status and lifestyle. I work from a holistic paradigm with clients enabling connection of mind and body to achieve their personalised goals. To that end, inspired by the Pilates spring wall, I developed a new exercise system to complement my philosophy of preventative strength conditioning – Springys.
My customer focus and attention to detail is my strength. Whether it be with clients or my staff or students, I am always committed to excellence in proactive health disciplines. I continue to pursue academic and industry learning to maintain professional excellence and grow my business in line with best practices and the academic direction of the industry
I believe the key to success lies in body awareness and therefore as an instructor I subscribe to one size does not fit all. My passion is in mentoring and educating new instructors in connecting with the client to enable greater body awareness. Enhancing instructors clinical reasoning and objectivity leads to truly individualised training plans for individuals. My expertise lies in clinical Pilates, massage, general fitness, swimming and running.
‘Martz is a real innovator,’ says her colleague, Lynsey, “clients have responded really well to Springys, […] achieving better results than traditional Pilates.” A part of my philosophy is providing very specific personalised services – “Martine provides hands-on feedback and I’ve learnt how to activate muscles I previously wasn’t using.” – Penny Cula-Reid, Senior Coach of Collingwood’s VFLW team.
